Wall Cleaning
Wall cleaning correctly can be a difficult task. There are many things to consider when tackling a very dirty wall. The wall surface needs to be reviewed. Is it smooth or does it have texture finish. How deep are the crevices matter. As this determines the type of material one needs to use to properly clean the surface.
Per each visit we look for smudges and marks to remove. If you decide we can clean entire walls where needed. Base boards is part of this cleaning. We will wipe down base boards as needed to ensure consistency per wall. Doors and door jams is another area we look forward to review for cleaning. The type of dirt, finger prints, or dust needs to be considered. The type of paint used is another item to review, because a satin finish is different than a flat finish. Is the dirt a cleaner grim or is it oil based or smoke infused. The type of grim matters how to clean the wall properly. Different cleaning agents need to match the type of grim. We use the correct product for each job based on what our experience has taught us over the years. Using a clean micro cloth for dust build up is usually best. As the micro fibers attach to dust particles. This minimizes the dust spreading all over and getting airborne. If the wall needs a good wash, using the correct type of sponge matters. This goes for the scrub pad too. Using a course scrub pad will remove the paint. It will also leave spots or uneven areas on the wall. This looks bad when dry. Using a good non scratch pad with a newer sponge works best. As you can scrub areas of need without damaging the paint. The newer sponge works best as the sponge does not leave small micro sponge pieces all over the wall. Using proper cleaning agents is key for a successful clean. For a regular dirt grime using a standard dish soap will work fine. Its when the wall is greasy or infused with smoke this is where it can be a challenge to figure out what works best. We work with our clients on to use solutions based on their needs. Either natural or standard solutions are the best choices. There is the proper solution for each job. Our years of experience helps us to make the right choice. We strive to leave the wall clean with a consistent overall look to the wall. I have seen walls with wipe marks all over the place. The wall looks worse than when it was dirty. Because it was not consistent with the overall wall. We take the necessary time to do the job write. In some severe cases we have done a wall cleaning in steps. Each week we take off a layer of dirt and by the 3rd week it is completely clean. This is rare but it does happen. In most cases we can clean a wall on the 1st attempt. We assess, do a sample swipe then review. Once we have seen how the wall responds then we can get to work. The work can take several minutes. In some cases it will take several hours for those extreme cases. But again those are few. The finished product is always a consistent clean wall. No one will know it was dirty, only you. |
